A freezing time of the year –
Cold, lonely hearts remember
The days after the 14th
Chocolates on sale.

This is one of the many unknown forms of Japanese poetry. It’s subject material is usually about love or work, which is often presented in a humorous way. The syllable count, or number of “on” if it were written in Japanese, is typically 7-7-7-5 (26 “on” total) but it can be shorter. They also don’t necessarily need to include a seasonal word or theme, even though most Japanese poetry does include some nature reference.
