Never Let Me Go

A bit on the experimental side, mainly with the rhyming. I tend to not rhyme whenever I write “vent poems,” so I decided to give it a shot this time.

Nowhere to run –
Nowhere to hide –
Out only to have a little fun,
Then it’s back to the grind.

You can’t keep me around forever

The burden that is you weighs a ton –
It’s a miracle my back is still intact
From caring for you – Remind me, am I your son
Or your husband? Is the “crippled mother” just an act?

You can’t keep me around forever

Can’t do this –
Can’t do that –
A new chapter of my life starts and you hiss
Anger is your soul – it’s how you always react.

I can’t stay here forever

For the first time, I found love –
I hope our souls intertwine –
I hope Peace descends like a dove
Upon this house – you and I are in a bind.

I won’t stay single forever

Consistently a disappointment, you have a list
Of every mistake I’ve made that makes you upset –
Your only child might as well not exist,
Or at least be a memorable vignette.

You shouldn’t hate yourself forever

All I ask is to be let go
Before winter comes
And I’m buried with snow,
Leaving you in the doldrums –
Sons won’t last forever,

But they must be on their own

Your Golden Dream

A poem who’s form follows that of the Golden Ratio, Phi (for the first 20 digits). This is another experimental poem with the form.

dreams
are not meant to be made –
dreams
distract from sad realities.

you love [blank] –
[blank] =
happiness for you. become obsessed
with [blank] – strive for it with passion.
passion launches dreams into the
reality you always
wanted – but that
passion suffocated when you took
that factory job to survive –
where you could be replaced by machines
in a heartbeat.
that’s the opportunity to
employ yourself
to your obsession – so that you
can live.

How to Improve Safety Quality

An experimental poem in terms of the form: a mix between an ad and a poem on society.

Enjoy!

Before you enjoy your fresh cup of McDonald’s coffee, take note of the warnings on the lid and along the seam of the disposable cup. We serve our delicious coffee at 180o – 190o F, so that your joe on the go stays hotter, longer.

Since the Liebeck lawsuit and other related lawsuits, however, we have been forced to add instructional warnings on the cup.

They are as follows:

Keep cup secure in cup holder when inside a vehicle.
Only qualified personnel may fill cup, or add cream and/or sugar upon request.
Qualified personnel must be sure that lid is firmly secure on cup.
Do not microwave liquid in disposable cup.
Do not drink until liquid is lukewarm.
Do not drink and drive.
Do not drink.

We know you’re an idiot.
We know you’ll ignore these new warning labels
anyway. No one reads anymore.

We know you’ll be sitting in your car, your coffee
cup between your legs because there are no cup holders, the
lid mostly open, and rather than
adding your cream and sugar,
hot coffee gets all over your lap and singes your groin.
What else did you expect?

We know idiots like you will inherit the earth.
Your new cup is our company’s contribution
to idiot-proof the world. We should
enjoy our first-world pleasures safely
by not enjoying them at all.

A Method to Remove Demons

It costs $7.96 to
breath in the unknown
chemicals for relaxation
during a 7 minute break from
life.
20 times the mind
numbs, a disconnection of
the body takes place –
only for a spell.
Worries, anxieties, insecurities
go up in thin wisps; they
exit in a thick cloud upon
exhaling, while
shredded tobacco burns.
These demons are attracted to
smoke and cling to it as
microscopic atoms of the
unknown chemicals would to the
lungs, preventing proper respiration.
I can legally obtain these

death sticks
now; I’m aware
regret will kick in as
I age. Please
don’t remind me –

I’m trying to smoke
out the demons; they
have resided inside me for
too long.

Spirit of a Big Cat

I am feline but
identify more with the
domesticated variety, yet
I find comfort knowing
I’m kin to the tigers
of East Asia; yet my
natural habitat is
far from tropical.
Some features of mine
have been cast out of the
natural gene pool – apparently
grey fur with green stripes,
blurred vision, an enlarged
heart full of love, and a
humanoid physique don’t
contribute to survivability

and reproduction for
my species; most of my kind
would rather copulate
with the same sex anyway.
There are so many of us

in the world – these
strange, colorful animals
more loving than humans –
canines, felines, ursines,
cervines, equines,
scalies, avians, marines,
sparkle dogs and sparkle cats,
unique hybrids from creative minds –
this was just how we were
created by our modern gods.
It’s good that we have

a capacity for compassion.
Nature –
society, humans –
can be unnecessarily
cruel.

Substance Abuser

First poem of 2016…starting off real great. Anyway, enjoy.

Every Time.
Every Time I establish a
mutual connection with another and
I open my heart to them and
they open theirs to me – I
can’t help but lose myself
over them – they
become an Obsession slowly
working its way through every
orifice in my brain –
Every Time I hope they
might be the one for me – not
to make me whole but to
connect – to make us
greater than we could
alone. Yet it seems
I Obsess over the disinterested –
I Obsess over the “I’m not ready” –
I Obsess over the happily mated – and
when quitting is an option another
Obsession appears and consumes
my heart – I remember
this behavior has burned away
inside me like acid – it has shoved
me close to death’s door. How do I
quit this behavior for good? Or
should I even quit the search – the
constant chasing of tails? Or maybe
jealousy is eating at me and
I’m afraid of being alone with no
companion. Perhaps my heart
is made of mercury – it
melts so easily – but it has
already melted.

A Dream Becoming Possible

I’ve wondered more and more if
I will meet that soul which
compliments mine since
contemplating that I can love another
man as I can love a woman;

I’ve wondered more and more where
I am going now and
who with since
resuscitating my love for
God’s creatures, so much that
I wish to become one myself at times.
I’ve learned more about myself; I’ve learned

more about what makes
the animals, plants,
fungi, protists,
all life
tick –

how they’re similar,
how they’re different – it’s
quite amazing. Maybe I will

follow my childhood dream of
veterinary practice or doing my
part in conservation and education, to
broaden our specie’s mind, exposing them
to other life on Earth – life I

would rather be a part of. Oh, how

I would love that! And by my side, the
man I love, who shares my love
for the natural world;
whoever he may be.
